Time

Time

The sea of my heart

Churns endlessly

Rough at times

Steady breaking on the shore

Wanting, needing something more

Never reaching its destined point

Rolling back on sanded shore

Fine smoothed sand left behind

Meanings lost within my mind

Time is lost. Time. Time…

There's Something About the Outer Banks

I walked for miles upon the banks

History upon the shore

I looked for answers

Tell me more

The waves are tossed

With much to say

Of pirates tales

Of another day

The wind picks up

I feel the shifting sand

I steady myself

As I walk the land

Kinakeet a native town

They say there’s treasure here

Do I search and dig

Or is it in the sounds I hear

Gulls that laugh

I hear them well

Waves that crash

Have much to tell

I sit and lounge

The day away

I think I found

Where treasures lay…
